During The Athletic’s deadline Q&A, though, Waugh has revealed that no more business is likely to be done. He said: “It seems that Newcastle are content with three signings and, unless the market shifts significantly, I don’t expect any further incomings.”
A new striker
It seems that, at the moment, Steve Bruce is content with the business that has been done. Two full-backs have come in, whilst Bentaleb can play in a number of midfield positions.

However, a striker would clearly not go amiss. Paco Alcacer was on their radar before he made the switch from Borussia Dortmund to Villarreal, and Bruce has confirmed their approach for Olivier Giroud was turned down. The Toon are in desperate need of goals up front – between them, Joelinton and Andy Carroll have managed just one in the Premier League this season. The St. James’ Park outfit could move if the right deal becomes available.
